Thanks for checking out our new blog. We are excited to begin blogging about the Clarkston community and refugee mental health.
Some basic background info on us: We are Harmony Refugee Services. Our previous name (prior to October 2011) was The Center for Torture and Trauma Survivors. We are a part of Family Intervention Specialists, Inc. (www.fisinc.org) Our office is in Clarkston, GA. Clarkston is one of the most diverse square miles in America and is home to hundreds of Refugees from all over the world. We offer a wide variety of services to meet the needs of our clients and are constantly striving to both engage the community and enhance our services. We provide individual and family therapy, community support, psychiatry, support groups, and play therapy, and always provide interpretation if needed.
Our vision is to be the premier provider of mental health services for refugees in the state of Georgia. Through utilizing a community based approach we offer creative & compassionate services which strengthen and empower the refugee family thereby building a healthier community. Our mission is To strengthen & empower refugee families through advocacy & innovative counseling and therapeutic services provided with the highest ethical standards.
Our goal is to decrease stigma and increase awareness, and to serve as many refugees as possible. We're all about community collaboration and advocacy. We're looking forward to blogging about our work and about mental health and refugee resettlement.
